Comiket organizers just dropped a pretty serious warning after a bunch of sketchy stuff got reported inside Tokyo Big Sight.
We’re talking:
- People walking off with unattended bags and belongings
- Straight-up pickpocketing
- Those annoying “wrong change” scams
- Unauthorized (aka secret) photography
On the first day they already put out an official notice telling both circles and regular attendees to stay sharp. Circles especially got reminded to double-check cash transactions out loud — like actually saying the amount when money changes hands — because the change scams are apparently popping up.
Crowds at Comiket are insane, so it’s easy for stuff to disappear or for someone to try something shady while everyone’s distracted by the next rare print. Keep your bag closed, don’t leave your stuff sitting out, and if you’re selling, stay extra careful with the money side of things.
No official numbers on how many incidents happened, and they haven’t said if anyone’s been caught yet. Just a clear “watch yourselves” from the organizers.
