Drunk Man Arrested After Biting Stranger During Argument in Train Station Bathroom

A bizarre late-night altercation at a train station in Japan ended with an arrest after a man allegedly bit another man’s hand during an argument inside a restroom.

Police in Gifu Prefecture say Yusuke Tsutsumi, 37, who describes himself as a Gifu City government employee, was arrested on suspicion of assault after the incident at Meitetsu Gifu Station on the night of March 7.

According to authorities, the confrontation occurred around 11:00 p.m. inside the men’s restroom at the station. Tsutsumi allegedly got into an argument with a 46-year-old man from Ginan Town, during which he reportedly bit the back of the man’s left hand, causing a bleeding injury.

Station staff alerted police after reporting that two customers were fighting inside the facility. When officers arrived, the injured man told them he had been bitten, leading police to arrest Tsutsumi at the scene.

Investigators say Tsutsumi had been drinking alcohol prior to the incident. During questioning, however, he denied the accusation, reportedly telling police: “I have no memory of it.”

Authorities also noted that the two men did not know each other prior to the encounter, suggesting the dispute was a spontaneous altercation rather than a conflict between acquaintances.

Police are continuing to investigate what exactly triggered the argument inside the station restroom.
