Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is getting roasted by fans over its DLC and heavy censorship

Koei Tecmo brought Dead or Alive 6 back in June as Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It packs in the full original roster, five previously released DLC characters, some new costumes, and a Photo Mode.

On paper it sounded fine. In practice, Steam reviews have been rough — the game is currently sitting at “Mostly Negative” with only around 31% positive ratings.

A big chunk of the backlash is aimed at the DLC. Fans say the new costume packs feel overpriced for what you get, and the outfits themselves are noticeably more modest than what the series used to deliver. A lot of the designs have been toned down or “reimagined” to be less revealing, and the Steam page even uses bright lighting to hide cleavage on one of the promotional shots.

On top of that, the game includes a built-in “censorship option” that slaps black bars over the more suggestive parts of the already-safe costumes. The official reason is to make the game more suitable for esports and other public settings.

For a series that built a big part of its reputation on flashy, revealing character designs, this direction has left a lot of longtime fans feeling like Koei Tecmo still isn’t listening. After the original DOA6 already caused controversy, Last Round doesn’t seem to have done much to win those players back.
