A 21-year-old man ended up getting shot by police after barging into a convenience store with a knife in Kumamoto Prefecture.
It happened around 6 p.m. on July 22 in Koshi City. Someone called the cops saying a guy with a blade had walked into the store. When officers showed up, the suspect — identified as Maeda Shion — pointed a kitchen knife at them. That’s when police fired.
He took hits to the right shoulder and right thigh. Firefighters say the wounds aren’t life-threatening.
Maeda was arrested on the spot for obstructing official duties. His occupation is listed as unknown for now.
Another one of those tense late-afternoon convenience store incidents that escalated way too fast.
