Mitsu Dan’s First Full Nude Shoot Paid Her 330,000 Yen. She Was Fine With That.

Mitsu Dan, now 45, married, and mostly out of the spotlight, went on the YouTube channel ReHacQ on September 28 and talked numbers from the start of her gravure career.

Her first fully nude photo shoot paid her 330,000 yen (about $2130). About a month’s salary at a normal job back then. The booking fee was higher. After the agency cut and expenses, 330,000 yen is what landed in her account.

Asked if that felt low, she didn’t flinch. “It was good. I could pay my rent.” She also said she was surprised she was worth that much, and she wasn’t disappointed.

The timing makes the number look smaller than it was. She debuted in gravure in 2010 after working at a funeral parlor and as a Ginza hostess, then went fully nude almost immediately, stepping into the lane left by the 1990s hair-nude photo-book boom. Those shoots were the on-ramp. Event appearance fees followed, then roles in explicit films, including the BDSM-themed Be My Slave (2012) and Sweet Whip (2013). Through the middle of the decade she was one of the faces of the sexy jukujo wave, in the same conversation as Manami Hashimoto.

She married a manga artist in 2019. No kids. Marriage and age mostly closed the gravure chapter, and she has been quiet in the media since.

The 330,000 yen figure is easy to laugh at now. She treated it as rent money and a proof that someone would pay. The career that came after is what the first shoot was actually buying.
