Remember Miyu Murashima? The gravure idol whose career hit a wall back in mid-2024 after her affair with a married basketball player blew up? She had to issue a public apology, got dropped by her agency, and basically disappeared from the idol scene.
She later said she was done with gravure and would focus on her own YouTube and TikTok stuff instead. The basketball guy, as usual, seemed to walk away without any real career damage.
Fast forward to now. Miyu is 27, and on August 18 she casually dropped the news on Instagram: she’s been working at a hostess club in Kyoto called Un Jour Gion. Her stage name there is Yu.
She posted a couple of photos and wrote something along the lines of “I’ve been working at a hostess club in Kyoto called Un Jour Gion for a little while now. My stage name is Yu. I’m going to give my all in this new challenge. Please come visit.”
Looks like she’s back in the Kansai area (she’s originally from Osaka). Un Jour Gion is part of a bigger group of clubs, been around for about 12 years, and has a cast of around 50 girls. If you want to sit and drink with her, bring a thick wallet and head to Gion.
This kind of move isn’t exactly rare. Plenty of former (and even current) gravure models, idols, and AV actresses end up doing hostess work. The money is usually steadier and better than chasing the next photoshoot or video, even if the hours are rough and the social image isn’t the most glamorous. For the clubs, having a recognizable name on the floor is solid marketing.
So yeah… from magazine covers and soft-focus photo books to late nights in a Kyoto hostess club. Life moves fast.
