Two Nara cops just got disciplined for sexually harassing the same female colleague

Nara Prefectural Police announced the punishments this week. A superintendent in his 50s got a reprimand on August 28. A sergeant in his 30s got a warning. Both were working at prefectural headquarters when it happened.

The older officer’s stretch ran from July last year through March. He hugged her from the front and sent her unsolicited romantic messages from his personal phone after hours.

The sergeant’s part was more recent: July and August this year. He kept holding her hand and touching her legs.

She finally told a superior in August, which is how the internal inspection unit found out two different men in the same workplace had been doing this to the same woman.

The inspection division put out the usual line: they’ll instruct staff thoroughly and try to stop it happening again.

Reprimand and warning. Same victim. Same HQ. That’s the whole story, and it’s ugly enough without dressing it up.
